In Late May, I met with a couple of actors on a beautifully colorful set built to do “Man is Not a Rock” a reading of Russian author Joseph Brodsky’s first interview post exile from the Soviet union. I was “Hans Markstein”, the husband of Elizabeth Markstein, who agreed to let the author stay with them before his transition to the US.
It was a fun, quick project, mostly because it felt awfully sophisticated to sit around and discuss literary themes during rehearsal, and because the vodka you see us toast the crowd with was absolutely real, and delicious, which is why you also see me decide to go back for it at the very end of the video. Cheers!
